Seems to be TV License debt department, so possibly legit. HOWEVER, extremely rude and aggresive. The disgusting individual phoned an 83yr old widow in relation to a license that had not been renewed AT A DIFFERENT ADDRESS. It had expired because the person (her son) had died over a year earlier and despite the license being cancelled, they were chasing her. It had been passed to their dept because a refund had NOT been claimed, ie THEY OWED HER DEAD SON money. Despite an 83yr widow audibly crying down the phone the 'thing' on the other end continued in an aggressive and rude manner. Eventually put the phone down on them and a complaint is being sent to the ombudsman. These people are scum.Perceived as Harassment, Received no information about call's cause and legitimacy.,

Rang to inform me I'd cancelled my direct debit and they needed to know where to take my next payment from. Informed TV Licensing weeks ago that I no longer need a license as the property I've moved into already has one. I received their confirmation of this. Apparently TV licence, didn't get into a conversation with them as phone said it was spam. They asked if i was who i was (dont know how they got my name or number) and asked me to confirm my address. Told him i would contact them back through the number on their website. Gave the official number a call, whoch said they were closed amd have been for hours. I was called at 9.46 PM. If they are closed, why am i getting a call at silly oclock in the evening. Further to that, my licence is in date, so they have no reason to call me. I don't know how they got my mobile number but they've called me on that instead of BT landlines. Told me I was late with my DD payment and wanted my bank details to set up the DD again. I new it was a scammed right away, all they want is your bank details. I rang the miss called number after going through loads of options I finally got through to a lady at tv licence who didnt know why I had received the miss call/ voicemail. After putting her on hold to listen to the voicemail I told her what was said she said ignore it, it's a scam. Received the call at 6pm saying he was from TV Licensing and asked me to confirm my address. He had my first initial and surname but considering they called me, they should know all of my details. Had a call from TV Licensing today at 15:32 regarding my TV License. Unfortunately due to matters out of my control my direct debit for some reason skipped. The man who called (you cannot call him a gentleman), was condescending. He said I had an outstanding amount to which I responded that I received an email and inputted my details in again. I said I have an email confirming this, which I can prove. To which he said he needed it paid now or I would be unlicensed! I said I couldn't now but felt it was a bit fishy as I had the email. He said he would cancel the license and someone would come and beat my door down tonight. Having just had a miscarriage in the family, I lost my temper. However can you imagine if I was a 60 year old person recovering from a stroke and some halfwit trying to make their commission said this? It could kill them. Not that this man probably cares. What is wrong with the world today? When I called back I complained and to be fair they were helpful, but this shouldn't have materialised in the first place. This man definitely should be dismissed for a) cancelling my license when I never refused to pay and b) making the loose threat that he would get someone to beat my door down. I wonder how many other people he does this to? Comes up as spam on mobile. Not surprised it is TV licensing, although bill is paid, keep calling. Inefficient people who collect money to enrich superstars - e.g. Jimmy Savile. They called me and asked for the person who held the BT number before it was re-allocated 9 years ago.... TV Licence. Extremely rude person who didn’t listen was condescending, argumentative, talked over me and kept repeating herself. Apparent missed payment. Paying by Direct Debit, cleared last two payments by BACS before Christmas to reduce outgoings over Festive period. Had never done this before, didn’t know this wasn’t allowed. One BACS Payment 2mths prior apparently not showing on System, but wasn’t informed of this for most of the call. Other BACS Payment 1mth prior was being returned in form of a Cheque! Person argued continuously and kept referring back to Direct Debit Payment in the same month as first BACS Payment and would not hear of said extra Payment! Infuriating call/person.Took over 2mths to finally receive extra BACS Payment back which involved sending Proof of Payment, my Bank involvement and several phones calls with completely incompetent people who either cut me off or lied to me!! To recap; I paid my Bill in advance and they refused it, denied it and sent money back while demanding I repay it all back to them while I was still waiting for my money to be returned. Never heard of such a pedantic, stupid system in all my life! All this started on 20th December and created so much stress right through Festive period and Birthday in January and wasn’t resolved until end of February!
